9 WEEK MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION PROGRAM FOR 6-12 YEAR OLDS

Program written, facilitated and taught by Diane Uzunovska, the Founder of Kids are Leaders, a degree qualified Primary School Educator with over 12 years of classroom teaching experience, mindfulness and meditation training and her own daily mindfulness and meditation practise.

Our Mindfulness & Meditation program is designed to equip 6-12 year old kids for life in the present moment within a fast paced and multi-faceted 21st century world.

Upon completion of the program kids will be able to mindfully implement the new mindfulness and meditation skills and knowledge into their own daily life, at school, with friends and in the family home.

 

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS? 

"Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgementally." - Jon Kabat Zinn, creator of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programme and Professor of Medicine Emeritus at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. 

 

Based on research about the benefits of mindfulness our weekly program for kids can leave them feeling:

calm, focused, mindful, grateful, more productive, confident, kind, more self-regulated, creative, resilient, joyful, happy, less reactive and more responsive, respectful, more emotionally balanced, peaceful, better able to problem solve and think critically, well rested, compassionate, more self-aware, empathetic and loved.

We guarantee:

fun, authentic, safe, creative, supportive and mindful experiences to which kids can relate.

No religious content is included in the kids program.

 

THE KIDS PROGRAM INCLUDES:

 

8 WEEKLY FACE-TO-FACE PROGRAM MEETINGS + 1 GRADUATION CEREMONY IN WEEK 9:  on Mondays for 1 hour from 5:30pm-6:30pm

WEEKLY MEDITATION TEACHINGS:  techniques and benefits for 8 formal meditation styles

INTRODUCTION TO 8 MEDITATION STYLES:  mostly seated formal meditations

WEEKLY MINDFULNESS TEACHINGS:  can be implemented during daily routines in life, at school, at home, with friends and family

8 MINDFUL ART EXPERIENCES:  related to weekly mindfulness teachings - all art materials and resources supplied 

EDUCATIONAL PROPS & IMAGES:  used during mindful and meditation teachings and especially valuable for visual learners

GENTLE MEDITATION MUSIC:  played during various moments of the weekly program

PROGRAM WORK BOOKLET:  outlining weekly program goals, mindfulness & meditation content and learning activities for kids

AUTHENTIC MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION JOURNAL:  used to record moments of gratitude, feelings, emotions, thoughts, mindful moments, kindness, using the senses & personal reflections

8 WEEK CUSHION HIRE:  for formal seated meditations

WEEKLY FACE-TO-FACE SUPPORT:  provided by a degree qualified Primary School Educator with over 12 years classroom teaching experience, who is also trained in Mindfulness & Meditation, Kids Yoga, NLP, CPR, Reiki, First Aid, Anaphylaxis, is a Random Acts of Kindness Ambassador and holds a current working with kids police check

EMAIL SUPPORT:  available outside of the weekly face-to-face meetings for the duration of the program

WEEKLY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS:  5 to 10 minutes of daily meditation at home as per the weekly seated meditation style timetable

QUESTION/ANSWER/DISCUSSION/FEEDBACK/REFECTION SESSIONS:  during the face-to-face weekly meetings for kids

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION:  participants will be awarded with a certificate of completion imprinted with their name

GRADUATION CEREMONY:  an open invitation to all program participants and their parents to celebrate their kids success on Monday 12th December 2016 from 5;30pm-6:30pm
