Ideas for living a plastic-free life, or living with less plastic, will be in abundance at Randwick Council’s Plastics - Switch Your Thinking event at Coogee Beach on Sunday 22 April, starting at 10am.

“Plastic pollutes our oceans, harms wildlife and fills up landfill for decades without decomposing, but the good news is that there are convenient ways to reduce our reliance on this common item,” said Randwick Mayor Lindsay Shurey.

“Switch Your Thinking is a fun, family-friendly event that will help point those who want to make the shift to a plastic-free lifestyle in the right direction.”

The day will include inspiration and information stalls, kid’s activities and interactive art that all champion ways to live a plastic-free life.

Take 3 For The Sea co-founder Tim Silverwood will speak about ways to reduce plastic pollution in our oceans and Randwick Council will provide visitors with the chance to buy reusable items to replace common single-use plastic items, such as coffee cups, metal straws and reusable bags.

Activities for children include:

  • Amazing Drumming Monkeys
  • Race Against Time Relay
  • Ocean Action Pod
  • Fin the Amazing Litter Fish
